Homeschooling Age 3-4
NOTE: All children sit and listen to our devotionals and family Bible studies. We also do a lot of reading aloud, from various books - mostly classics. The below is just what we do for "formal homeschool."
By age 3, my children know their ABC's, and how to count to at least 15 to 20, so we build off of that.
I have some homemade flash cards that I use to teach the 3-4 aged child their colors and their shapes. We go through the flash cards twice, each homeschool day.
We continue counting, and try to make it up to 100.
We start pre-reading skills, where I use books similar to this one - ABC Board Book We focus on one letter a day. We trace the letter, to see how it's formed, we discuss capital, versus lower case, and then I teach the child the
sound(s) the letter makes. We work on one letter a day. After we've gone through all 26 letters, we start over again.
We also start pre-writing skills. I print out printing readiness worksheets, and give one worksheet to the child each day, four days a week. When the child has finished the readiness worksheets, then we move on to Large Letters and Numbers worksheets.
